Rodeo Family Affair for the Harmons – Ft Worth Friday Performance Results

Share

FORT WORTH — Rodeo is well known for having family support and seeing competitors through the generations.
Fans at the second performance of the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo got to see firsthand just how deep that commitment goes. Steer wrestler Casey Harmon from nearby Stephenville had an outstanding run of 4.2 seconds. He did that on a horse trained by his father Bucky and with his mom Colleen on the hazing side.

Steer wrestling is the only event in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association that has a helper in the arena and their job is critical for success. That job is performed by a person on horseback known as a hazer. If done correctly, the hazer gets the steer in position between the two running horses so that the steer wrestler can slide off the back of his horse, grab the steer by the horns and bring him to the ground.
Harmon’s 4.2 second run is currently tied for seventh place in the first round of competition. It may not get him a check but does put him in good shape for his second run, which he is scheduled to make on Sunday night.
There are three performances at the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo on Saturday, 10 a.m., and 2 and 7:30 p.m.
